Purposeful conversations to inspire you to build your best life

TRUST * SUPPORT * COUNSEL

Life transitions can be difficult. Sometimes, they are harder because we are forced to make changes in our personal lives or careers that we didn't expect or want. That can leave people feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and not knowing what to do next.

Coaching can help with valuable support and direction to assist you in getting unstuck and moving forward. With individual support, reaching your personal and professional goals happens faster.

My name is Seth Shulman, and I have the privilege of helping my clients overcome challenging life circumstances and live happier lives for over twenty-five years. One of the most important things I've learned from my work is that change is always possible.

I can say with a deep conviction that as tough or as hopeless as things may seem; they don't have to stay that way. Shifts in mood and mindset happen when people take those important few steps towards creating a better life. Embracing the philosophy that change is possible is empowering. It's the move into a more constructive and proactive mindset that allows for opportunities and success in work, relationships, finances and overall wellness.

About

As a matter of background, I received my Masters In Social Work from New York University in 1995.  I have over 25 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families, helping them with their best communication and uncovering insights to alleviate stress and confusion.  I have always been passionate in my belief that people's negative thinking, and distorted impressions in their communication with others, and most importantly with themselves, their own self-talk, contributes to the obstacles of not having clear goals and a plan to reach them.

Coaching was a natural progression for me after twenty plus years as a psychotherapist. My best work and what I enjoy the most, is working with clients that are motivated for change and willing to put in the work towards reaching their goals.  In this fast-paced, results-driven and technology gifted time, we have access to so many resources to help motivate and support us in a shared and universal quest for living happier and successful lives.  Helping my clients access these resources and create a plan to reach their vision of success is my passion.

Life Coaching is not therapy.  Life Coaching is about setting and achieving personal and professional goals.   Although, I have experience and training as therapist, my work as a Life Coach is different.

On a more personal note. I grew up on Long Island and spent most of my life in Manhattan. I enjoy all the great things life in NYC offers and as well enjoying family and friends on Long Island.  I moved to Southern California in 2016 to live life as much on the water as possible.  I am an avid sailor and I get to do that all year round, not something that was possible on the East Coast.  For me, being out in nature with some form of activity and community is what recharges my spirit and my body.

I've been committed to personal development since my twenties. Mindfulness and meditation are a big part of what makes me happy. The practice, my practice isn't perfect but it's always there when I need to access it. Awakening to the awareness that we can manage our thoughts and become aware of our breath in difficult and challenging times is the gateway to the understanding that we are at the controls. The work to setting and achieving our goals begins at that moment that we become aware of our choices.

I feel that I was built to help others and I am grateful that I found work that is in alignment with who I am. I've known peaks and valleys that come with living a full life. I have helped many in troubled times and I've asked for help during difficult times. I understand what it's like to lose family and friends too young to illness and tragedy. I have a personal satisfaction in knowing that light comes after darkness and there is always a promise of change and a reason for hope. Sharing that belief with others, especially in their time of need, brings me great satisfaction.
